Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Scholars Program
Note that this website is currently for the AHEC Scholar program in the Colorado's San Luis Valley. If you are interested in joining an AHEC Scholars program in another part of the country, please contact your regional Area Health Education Center (AHEC). A list of national AHECs can be found here.
The AHEC Scholars Program is an interdisciplinary education and training program with curricula focused on rural and/or underserved populations. Scholars are required to commit to two years within the program, which consists of a minimum of 40 hours per year of team-based training in a rural or underserved environment and an additional 40 hours per year of didactic education. Students in programs lasting one year or shorter may complete the program in one year.
